Mons Pays
Mon Pays, c’est l’été, as a title for this painting came to mind when I thought about the song Mon Pays , c’est l’hiver written by Gilles Vigneault, which expressed solidarity, nationalism, and connection to the northern landscape of Québec.
For me, I identify more with the summer than the winter but I do still remember the cold and snow in Georgian Bay where I grew up. Mon Pays, summoned up memories of Sauble Beach where I spent many summers. The images are also pictures in my mind of places not far from where I live now in the Kawarthas.
This is a very special painting for me with feelings of nostalgia for my country, and Ontario, showcasing a colourful summer scene.
