dramatic black and red acrylic collage

Midnight Sky

Keen writes, "Once upon a time farmers used to observe the constellations to decide whether to harvest or to sow. Since different constellations are visible at different times of the year, farmers were able to use them to tell what month it was. Observation of self and what surrounds us is important for growth, as it was for the farmers to watch the patterns."

The dramatic high contrast colour scheme of black and red feels elemental and dramatic - familiar and very attractive. Keen's subject matter, use of colour, texture and her clean lines are stand out elements to her work.

Acrylic collage mixed media on regular canvas.
